To obtain a small motorcycle (moped) driver’s license, you must be at least 16 years old. This is the main requirement to obtain this license.

In Japan, a specific license is required to ride mopeds, known as “50cc Scooters” or “Small Motorcycles.”

Likewise, you must have a residence certificate and a Zaryukado.

What is Japanese “residence certificate”.

In Japan, the “residence certificate” is known as “Juminhyo” (住民票). This document is a residence registration certificate and contains information about the address and household composition of a resident in Japan. The Juminhyo is issued by the local government in the city, town or village where you reside.

If you already have the residence certificate and Zaryukado, you can start with the procedures.

Also, you must provide 3 photos (2×3 size) and purchase the 1800 yen stamp. The hours of operation are from 8:30 to 9:15 am so that you can deliver the documents requested to start the process.

If you have all the documents ready and meet the requirements, go to the written exam area. That is, you enter the written exam room. Where they will give you a green sheet, with a code.
